Christmas Party @ Denen CP Church
18 December 2004

The big Christmas party for the kids at Denen Church was Saturday the 18th, and I mean to tell you, that place was PACKED. This photo doesn't accurately reflect how crowded it was, because when I took this one, there were already 8-10 kids who were standing in the front -- that's what everyone is looking at -- and since they're missing in this photo, it doesn't look so bad.

Anyway, it was crowded, and it was hot -- and it was FUN.

They really put a LOT of focus on their kids' programs at Denen -- and even the youngest kids have classes and music groups to join. Here are a couple of shots of the pre-schoolers in the hand bell choir. The first one shows Pastor Igaki's daughter getting SERIOUS about ringing that bell!

The second shot is of a real cutie -- except her expression almost NEVER deviated from the one in this photo.

Couple of "trouble makers"... the one on the right is Pastor Igaki's son.

Here's the multi-talented Hiro (Pastor Igaki) giving his important Christmas lesson, and then helping lead the singing with his backpacker guitar. He also has a Yamaha MIDI guitar he uses for our weekly Saturday Night Fellowship -- maybe I'll show some photos of that sometime, it's really cool.

This guy kept ending up under my feet -- I finally realized he wanted me to take his photo. So I did.

Bingo... I've played more Bingo in the last two weeks than the whole rest of my life put together.*

*a slight exaggeration, but still "true"

Well, hey -- at least we had ONE really happy customer -- she's coming to collect her Christmas present!

Apples anyone? I swear, they had a HUGE bunch of apples, but those kids went through those things like termites in a wood shop. Or something...

I freely admit that I don't know this girl's name, but she is so cute -- she's in second grade, and it seems like she is ALWAYS smiling!! I just love it... Last week they told her I liked her smile, and how she always seemed so happy -- she said, "Oh, well, it's not that way at home"...

I don't know if I misunderstood or what, but ouch...

This is Aya from Koza Church, and her son Taiyoh -- what a cute baby!

Our friend Wataru from Naruse CP Church comes over to Denen quite a bit, and I'm so glad that I'm getting to know him -- he seems really cool. I think he's about 21, and he drives this huge bike...

Anyway, the kids love him to death -- especially THIS day, when he spent HOURS after the party giving everyone rides! He told me later that he drove something like 22 kilometers that afternoon giving kids rides!
