Sagamino Christmas Festa
11 December 2004

Every Christmas, Sagamino Church puts on a Saturday "fun fair" event, which they call their "Christmas Festa." Here are some of my photos of this year's event:

Tabito had to approve everything before the day could begin.

Here are some of the prizes for the kids who "win" the games...

You can see from this shot there was a BIG crowd of kids -- I think they told me afterwards it was about 80, plus a few parents.

Nakano-san made this custom "pinball" game -- it was by far one of the hottest spots of the day -- the kids really loved that one.

There were four or five game stations for the kids -- shown above are the ball toss; the ring toss; and then the third photo is of two girls playing a video game where they use the "guns" to shoot the targets on the screen. The girl in pink is Miku -- one of my students in the pre-school class on Tuesdays. In class she is so cute and quiet -- but then the minute class is over and they start playing and speaking Japanese again, she starts talking up a storm...

In addition to the games, the kids could do some coloring and crafts. I think they "cooked" these drawings in the microwave to make a necklace or something crazy like that. How would I know -- I ain't no craft-monger...

Takahito is having fun watching over the ping pong ball game.

I can't yet speak with utter confidence -- but I feel 98% confident that every single church in Japanese presbytery has a BINGO set. Either that, or they've been passing the same set around to each other behind my back.

Anyway, the kids really had fun at this, especially since the Grand Prize was tickets to Tokyo Disneyland -- seriously!! So there was lots of excitement in the air.

The top photo shows Mrs. Nakano pulling out the first numbers.

Finally -- SNACK TIME!
