BBQ with Nobu's School
3 November 2004
It was election day 2004 in the USA
when I joined the Garcia family for a picnic/BBQ outside of town. Orlando
Garcia is the pastor of our "International Fellowship" we
have every Sunday at Sagamino Church. His wife is Michiko, and their
son is Nobumichi (but we always call him Nobu). Nobu
goes to an international school over in Machida, and on this day (a
national holiday in Japan), the whole school had a big picnic and
BBQ. Lucky for me, they asked me and Manuel (also from the
Fellowship) to join them!
This is my favorite photo of these
guys so far -- it's Manuel on the LEFT, then Michiko and
Orlando.
We had some
great food, and the weather was PERFECT. Other than that, there's
not too much to report.
Oh,
there was another group of older Japanese folks having an outing
next to us. Nothing special, except they were SQUARE-DANCING.
I hope you can see the video -- I really LOVE that the one lady (in
a red visor) salutes after every move! You
have to see it to appreciate it... |
