May 2005
Of COURSE I should
have updated you weeks ago. Yes. But
I didn't, I couldn't -- or at least wouldn't -- and so here we
are. The
main thing is we're still TOGETHER, right? Now,
listen -- I've gotta go out of town for a few days -- it's GOLDEN
WEEK here in Japan. Can you believe they actually call it
"golden week"?!? Fantastic. And since it's GOLDEN
WEEK, the week of spring holidays, I'm joining some friends for a
short trip down south-a-ways, to the so-called "FCC" --
which I have NO IDEA what that stands for, anacronymically-speaking,
but it is the name for the campground which the Japan churches own,
down near Mt. Fuji. So
I'll be gone for a few more days, but hope to return later this week
and then I'll try to fill you in on all my recent adventures -- at
least the ones I haven't already forgotten. By
the way -- I told my friend Fumie I was going to FCC (near where her
father is still a pastor), and she said, with a look of concern, "Watch
out for the bees!" Now,
isn't that the kind of thing that makes kids have night-terrors and
stuff? Later someone confirmed for me that several people die each
year in Japan from "killer bees"... go figure. But
don't worry -- I'll watch out for the bees! You do the same and
I'm sure we'll all be fine...

May 2005 Look
-- don't get mad at me. I honestly LIKE posting. I do, c'mon -- I
DO. But whether I've spelled it out so clearly or not, from the
start of April my schedule got a LOT more full... and... well... I
don't know... Maybe
it's spring, right? I mean, maybe I've had it in my heart to come
here and tell you all about my adventures, big and small (none of
which are so interesting that you should care to hear them, I might
point out parenthetically) -- but anyway, what I was saying, is that
having it "in your heart" to do something doesn't always
translate into DOING it. Sometimes it leads to just the opposite,
right? SO... Anyway,
I'm here. And I'm more than fine. I'm
full of joy, and dreams, and microwave dinners... and baloney. Especially
the baloney... . . .

your eyes on the ball... keep your eyes on the ball..."
