About Me
My name is Glenn Watts, and I live
in a suburb in the southwest portion of Tokyo called Sagamino, in
Zama city, Kanagawa prefecture. I
teach English. I study Japanese. I eat noodles.
My official job title (I think) is Fraternal
Missionary of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church to Japan, or
something like that. They
didn't give me any fancy clothes to wear or anything. I don't get
one of those silk sashes to wear across my chest like the little
mayor in Monopoly. No pointy "pope" hats -- nothing like
that. I mostly just wear normal clothes.
I am from the United States --
Louisville, Kentucky to be exact. My "home" church is now
called "Heartsong"... Those folks are like my second
FAMILY, and if it weren't for them, I absolutely would not be here
in Tokyo today. They have supported me through thick and thin, and
they mean more to me than they know.
I am a very proud uncle to Madelyne
and Andrew Boehnlein (pronounced like "bay-line").
I am a godfather to Peter Hayes.
Before I came to Tokyo in September
of 2004, I worked for three years in Hong Kong, teaching English at
the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Yao Dao Primary School,
located in the Tin Shui Wai area of Hong Kong -- man, the stories I
could tell you from those three years... Anyway, I love Hong Kong --
and I tell you, I REALLY love that school.
Before THAT, I worked at a small publishing
company in Indiana for ten-and-a-half years. We specialized
in publishing and selling/distributing educational books, CDs and
videos to teach people to play jazz music.
My hobbies are PHOTOGRAPHY,
COMPUTERS and MUSIC, as
well as reading.
